Oh I’ve had an exciting few days. On Friday, I was a guest at the wonderful Goldsboro Books for an evening of spooky tales and chat. Goldboro Books are a pretty deadly bookshop in Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley (or Cecil Court) in London. They sell ALL THE BOOKS but specialize in rare books, first editions and signed hardbacks. Of course, you’ve heard of them, but if not check them out here.
Chills and cackles were dished out by the likes of David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas, Bone Clocks, Slade House); Catriona Ward (Rawblood) and John Connolly. Glasses of wine were had, horror was offered up and ghoulish literature discussed. The evening gave me a chance to decompress, get rid of the creative cobwebs and prepare for November— month of the writing dangerously, for those who don’t know. And then…wait for it…I get the news that my novel has been longlisted for the Bath Childrens’ Novel Award. I tell you, this was not expected and much appreciated. What a better way to begin the fifty thousand word hike but with that hooked under my belt?
Hope you are all starting November with fire in your fingers!
