This time last year, we were working on the cover for the hardback of Too Close to Breathe and now we are just about ready with the paperback covers. I believe the US covers will go up and out very soon including the cover for the second book in the series, The Killer in Me. So keep your eyes peeled. In the meantime, feast your eyes on the French cover below. I love the blue light effect that echoes one of the plot lines in the book.
After attending Theakstons Crime Festival in Harrogate last year as a reader, this year I got to return as a published author. I joined a team of determined sleuths at the Author Murder Mystery dinner on the Saturday evening which was a lot of fun. I also had a good trek around Harrogate itself this year, had tea at Betty’s, walked around The Stray (200 acres of beautiful public parkland in the town centre), had drinks and dinner with my publishers and probably socialised a little too much – although I’m not sure there’s such a thing in Harrogate, as any will say who’ve been there. Next on the cards is a trip to Germany to take part in the Mordsharz Festival and talk about the German publication of Too Close to Breathe, titled ZU NAH (beautiful cover below!). In fact, I’ll be in Germany a few times over the coming months, so check out the events page for more on these talks and festivals and maybe if you’re about, come say hi!
Next month, I’ll be at Bloody Scotland on a panel which I’m super excited about. Bloody Scotland is a crime literary festival in Stirling and this year will attract incredible authors such as Val McDermid, Denise Mina, Graeme Macrae Burnett and many more. I’ll be on the New Crime panel with writers, Alan Parks, Olga Wojtas and Amer Anwar. If you are a crime fiction fan then this is the place to be and if you’re an aspiring writer or have a desire for publication then they also run a ‘pitching’ event called pitch perfect where many crime authors have started their careers.
